Mission: A Little Border Dispute
Location: USS Alsea/Starbase Lotus
Timeline: 8864.2

Supplies had been moving into Sickbay for most of the day. Medical supplies, new biobeds, all still in boxes with no one see in to care about things getting squared away. Two crewmen were in the CMO's office, one of which was sitting in his chair, when Lieutenant JG Karen Asner entered Sickbay on the Alsea for the very first time.

The mark II EMH activated, "Gentlemen, I would recommend you get back to..."

"Computer deactivate the EMH" said the crewmen sitting in the chair. "That thing can be so annoying". The two crewmen began to laugh.

You've got to be kidding me, Karen thought. Not only are they not motivated, but they lack respect for their boss' office, and they have little discipline when an officer walks into the room. This has to end now.

"Clearly you this crew doesn't know Lieutenant Carter" Karen projected in an authoritative voice.

The room fell silent as all 25 present members of the medical crew turned and looked at Karen quizzically...all except the two in the CMO's office who couldn't hear her due to the soundproof natures the office.

"Supplies have been moving into Sickbay for most of the day, according to the logistics crew, and it looks like...."

"...and who are you" interjected a young Andorian Ensign.

Karen was a bit taken aback. Never has she been challenged by a junior officer so openly. "Well these pips on my collar indicates I'm a Lieutenant Junior Grade, so that automatically makes me your superior barked Karen. I'm also the Chief Nursing Officer and on a starship, in the absence of an Assistance Chief Medical Officer it makes me the second in command of the Medical Department, yet again your superior officer. "

The Ensign's antennae began to slightly arch forward indicating his embarrassment.

"I've been given word that Lieutenant Carter has arrived aboard.  I suspect he's with the Captain now, but his next stop WILL be here" Karen said as she scanned the room. "I expect this place in order long before he steps foot in here, otherwise I can almost guarantee you things will not start off on the right foot with him."

Karen began to walk the room looking each crew member in the face.

"He's tough, but fair" Karen says as she stops directly in front of the Andorian Ensign, looking him directly in the face. "Most of all he sets high expectations for his crew. What we do comes down to one and death decisions. Every crew mom ear aboard this ship WILL at some point come to depend on us doing our jobs competently.  If this is something you cannot handle, I suggest you go back to your quarters and draft a periods for a change of orders before we ship out, because once we leave the Starbase you belong to me. Now let's get to work!" Karen ordered.

The crew begin to scatter in all directions, all except the two still in the office, oblivious to what has transpired.

These two are definitely are going to be my pet project thought Karen as she approached the room, but before she could get to them in walks the doctor.

Upon entering Sickbay the first impression Julian had was that the place seemed to run well. The crew seemed busy and it wasn't al all the story he had formed in his head. From the corner of his eye he could see three people in his office, one of which was sitting at his desk.
