My new orders came through today. I'm going to be the Chief Tactical and Security Officer on the new USS Challenger. Although, if the rumors are true, it will be the USS Phoenix before we launch. Either way, I'm excited for this, especially because I get my pick of crew from the Lotus because she's out of service.

I'm only bringing a few of the officers from the old department, the few that I trust completely: Nidiri Kiels, who I've put in for promotion for her service during Operation Horizon, Chief Warrant Officer Jacob Park, who proved himself as a fantastic master-at-arms and investigator, and Ensign T'Pala to run the brig.

My new CO is Captain Syntron, who I met after we picked him up before the Artemis's complete destruction. He seemed to handle himself very well during the operation, leading the science teams to close the anomaly. As far as I can tell, he is a perfect fit for this ship and its mission. I heard that he's making it even more scientific, so he feels at home. I don't understand much of that stuff, but I respect the Captain for pushing the scientific goal of Starfleet, especially after the violence of the last few months.

I've got a lot of work cut out for me over the next few weeks. This is the first time I've had to built a department from scratch. Thankfully, I'll have Nidiri to help me out. Time to get to work.
