Lt. Commander Jonathan Livingstone

Tall slender long-limbed and purple feather-covered with a powerful but sotf  beak and large spaced golden eyes. His legs are slim but rather long for the usual member of his species, possibly denoting a different subspecies yet unknown that would relate more to old running avians than flying ones. His head feathers are dotted with small lights which are a bioneural link between his brain and any electromagnetic device within a dozen meters.

Because of their peculair extensive family structure, that being virtually equal to their whole society, the X'Ell do not have this notion as it is usually understood. The History of their entire species is considered "Family History":

Recently established cultural exchanges with the Federation have opened studies on this History, but the sheer volume of data alone will yield preliminary results only in the next decades to come. These are so vast in scope that barely a fraction of a percent has yet been recorded and has yet to be thoroughly studied."

Jonathan Livingstone (a chosen name as his true name is utterly unpronouncable to non Avians) is the odd ball of his kind; his wanderlust, curiosity and drive to do and be more completely at odds with the tranquil, serene, self-satisfied attitude of the rest of his species. 

Inquisitive, intelligent, courageous and steadfast but too curious, naive, utterly pacifist and easily startled, which, because of his physiology, makes him often react in a cold, deliberate, slow and methodical manner that can be infuriating to more impatient colleagues.

Ever wants to see what is beyond, what is out there; hence why he chose to name himself after a fictional seagul novel character that shared his outlook.

Everything that is non X'Ell fascinates him. He has studied Terran Tai Chi Chuan and Aikido and Vulcan Iln Ifna  and Aanh Woon with a passion as self-improving disciplines capable of resoving violence without violence. He has however no interest at all in competing, a notion he finds totally ridiculous outside of the mating ritual. He oftens bewilder other non X'Ell when invited to a competing event he answers things like: "Why would you ever wish for me to have children with you?"

He has a great liking to cheese and loves to listen to flute music, most notably Pan flute which unfortunately his beak does not allow him to play. He is however a natural-born master of the Vulcan Lyre with the extraordinary deftness of his hands.

He as always been restless, aventurous, even too bold for his own good from the moment he hatched. Even several accidents, misshaps and near deaths did nothing to deter his craving of what lies beyond his sight and knowledge. he studied ravenously about everything the X'ell civilization knew... and still found it too limited. What lies beyond the world?

He was right there when First Contact happened with the Klingon invasion and the coming of the starship Artemis... and this glimpse of the universe outside made him more restless than ever. When he learned about the Officer Exchange Program, he was the first in line to apply the very moment he became an adult; and he was immediately considered the first best choice to ship out!

He has suffered major and minor fractures just about everywhere on his body, all perfectly healed.

Part of a special exchange program, he has not yet undergone the entire Starfleet Academy curriculum. His officier commission is currently honorary so as to make an exception for him by allowing him access to normal starship duties. His status is under the personal responsibility of Captain Kheren of Lotus Fleet. Starfleet hopes to lure him eventually to fully join the fleet and therefore provide better relationship with his people through him.

He is currently undergoing the Starfleet Academy curriculum while serving in Lotus Fleet under the tutelage of Academy Commandant Commodore Benjamin Brigham.  In 3 years he will be ranked a full fledged officer of Starfleet if he completes the standard Starfleet Academy requirements under the direct Officer Command grade recommendation of Captain Kheren, commanding officer of the USS Horizon.
