Physical Description

B'Zinga's overall appearance is athletic and clean-cut. She looks like your typical "girl next door". B'Zinga likes to keep an overall neat appearance - her curly brown hair is always moussed, her usually thick eyebrows are plucked so they look "standard", and her makeup gives her a fresh, natural human-like look.

Appearance-wise, B'Zinga does not stand out (aside from her forehead ridges). She gets attention in other ways, such as through her integrity, her physical strength, and her intelligence. Her husband Jocelyn, on the other hand, has an alluring, charming, and dashing appearance. When she and Jocelyn are together, they look like the perfect couple - except that B'Zinga is the strong, protective one and Jocelyn is the attractive, seductive one.

B'Zinga's "plain Jane" appearance - combined with her husband's reputation as an alluring man in uniform - has drawn the ire of catty women. Of course the great majority of women working in Starfleet are professionals who are there to serve with honor, but there is always a small minority of bratty women who are jealous of B'Zinga and believe that putting down her appearance would somehow make them look more attractive.

When wearing a dress uniform, B'Zinga also wears a small pin bearing the Decatur family crest.

Other Family
Family History

B'Zinga was raised in a traditional Klingon family who was living in Federation lands. Before B'Zinga was born, her family was forced to flee Klingon territory and found refuge in Federation lands. B'Zinga still doesn't know why her parents left Klingon lands - they refuse to tell her anything. All B'Zinga knows is that her parents raised her as if she was on Q'onos.

B'Zinga's parents believed that Klingon culture was the best and that all other cultures were scum. They taught her that non-Klingons were weak, cowardly, and without honor. They continuously harassed B'Zinga for not being "good enough" for Klingon standards. In her parents' eyes, she seemed too much like a Federation citizen and too little like a Klingon.

To her parents' distress, B'Zinga ended up signing up for Starfleet and marrying a Human - both of course without her parents' permission. Now, she purposely tries to remain out of contact with her family. That doesn't mean, however, that they aren't going to try to find her.

-----

Jocelyn Lindsay Decatur is B'Zinga's husband. He comes from a long line of Starfleet officers. His ancestors even served pre-Starfleet militaries. One of his most famous pre-Starfleet ancestors was Stephen Decatur, a 19th century American naval officer who was famous for fighting off the Barbary Pirates. Jocelyn comes from a good, supportive family.

Jocelyn has a reputation among the members of his Academy class for being attractive, intelligent, and charming. B'Zinga especially thinks that Jocelyn's features are very alluring and is not afraid to express her feelings for Jocelyn in public. Because B'Zinga often gets distracted by Jocelyn, Starfleet Command placed the couple on two different ships. Jocelyn is current serving as a science officer on another ship.

Jocelyn's allure and charm earned him the nickname "Veela". Sometimes, given Jocelyn's name and nickname, people who haven't met him in person mistake him for a woman.

Jocelyn's branch of the family was famous for turning out great science officers. In the earlier years of the Federation, one Jocelyn's ancestors remarried a Vulcan woman named T'Pan after his first wife died. It was an interesting match - the man was attractive and alluring, and the woman was intelligent and practical - but the couple got along very well. T'Pan Decatur was an instructor in the Vulcan Science Academy and raised the Decatur children - even those without Vulcan blood - to be great at the sciences. Although Jocelyn doesn't have Vulcan blood, he is still raised on the same tradition.

B'Zinga's parents hate Jocelyn. The think that Jocelyn is seducing B'Zinga away from "her people". What her parents don't really understand is that B'Zinga considers herself a Federation member and does not have any loyalty to the Klingon Empire.

Moral Lesson Learned in the Academy

"Sometimes in life, you can't get everything you want."

Ever since B'Zinga was a little girl, she discovered that she loved to build and fix things. Her parents never understood why she was so interested in this stuff - they told her that Klingons were supposed to break things, not fix them. She went to Starfleet Academy with the intent of being an engineer.

Unfortunately, things didn't work out for B'Zinga. She found herself ill-prepared for the engineering classes. Instead of busting her arms off trying to catch up on the material, she her weekends hanging around a fellow cadet, a man named Jocelyn Decatur. Besides, she hates being wrong in front of strangers, and she found the world of engineering meant dealing with lots of failure. Soon, B'Zinga was advised to change her course of study.

B'Zinga changed her field of study to Operations. She found it much easier than engineering. She graduated the Academy as an Operations officer.

Additional Information

((OOC: I am willing to change her academic portion of her biography to fit RP needs. The only type of offer that B'Zinga cannot be is a science/medical officer - she doesn't have the right attitude for science. I also strongly prefer that she be placed on the USS Phoenix over the USS Horizon.))
