Family History

Rathaniel and Caitlin came from the human settlement of New Saint Lucia to Boulder, Colorado, after a vacation sparked a yearning for the couple to live near Denver's lush forests. Rachele's father held the rank of Lieutenant in Starfleet, assigned as Security at Starfleet's intelligence facility in Colorado, housed in the renovated NORAD buildings. Her mother joined the Federation Diplomatic Corps at an early age and was noted for assisting the senior ambassador to Betazed during the planet's occupation by the Dominion. Both parents were listed aboard the USS Hjaltland at the time of destruction, however there were no orders on record placing them aboard the ship.

Personality & Traits

General Overview

Determined, tenacious, self-sacrificial, methodical describe Rachele's character diamond. She is a firm believer of the needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few (specifically the one). Perhaps due to continuous exposure to her father's mind, she has a very well-structured mind.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Rachele's strengths lie in her determination and security training - she won't back down when the stakes are high. She rather reluctantly is showing signs of being a competent leader as well, ever since the Romulans briefly took over Starbase 10. Perhaps her biggest weakness is her naivete and inexperience, allowing her to be easily taken advantage of by those with more life experience.

Ambitions

Rachele's ambition is to serve the citizens of the Federation as best she can, for it was they who showed her such kindness once her story was published on the Fed newsnets. She also wants to find out what happened with the USS Hjaltland and her parents, and to regain her memory. As the years go however, it seems her past history has less and less a hold on her life.

Hobbies & Interests

Rachele knows she was involved in engineering while on the USS Hjaltland, and has taken up basic engineering as a method of regaining her memories. In her quiet times, she enjoys vulcan meditation rituals, while on the holodeck she revels in rock climbing, hiking, and swordplay.

Basic History

Personal History

Rachele does not recall events prior to 81138.35 (Nov 2406, Age 18) - USS Hjaltland destroyed Survived with the reported aid of a Klingon warrior named Manal. Survived Jem'Hadar attack, and was brought aboard the USS Wayfarer, an Intrepid-class vessel on its way to deliver a Vulcan diplomat named M'Kanah to the Klingon colony of Htoth. Aboard the ship as well was journalist Karen deCour, who took in Rachele's story and submitted to the Federation news nets. Overwhelmed by her experiences and the (mostly good) attention she received due to the publicity, Rachele found herself often seeking the advice of M'Kanah. She developed a profound attachment to the Vulcan, who decided it was not inconvenient to take her in as his daughter. Strongly affected by her experiences, Rachele re-entered Starfleet Academy, enrolling in the fields of security and tactical, dealing with her traumatic experiences with memories of both Manal and M'Kanah's advice. Unable to acquire an authentic bat'leth, Rachele procured a blue-hilted longsword with which to keep up the training the Klingon had given her. It was also during her academy years that she displayed a strong affinity for the outdoors and survival courses. Rachele met Speaker-of-Names on board the USS Kir'Shara, where the Kzinti led secondary security teams. In his disparaging remarks to her regarding women, she saw bits of Manal and rose to each challenge. Intensely loyal, she followed the Kzinti to the USS Lotus, to Starbase 10, then finally to the USS Pittsburgh. Rachele makes it a point to visit M'Kanah every year, during which time they share mind melds which the vulcan hopes will one day piece together the damaged parts of her memories.
